Retirement for Johnson after ban

After the British Horse Association (BHA) handed a four-year ban to Howard Johnson, the trainer retired from the horse training ranks.
Johnson was given three charges relating to the ‘de-nerving’ of chaser Striking Article, and six concerning the administering of anabolic steroids to three other horses.

Failed steroids test blamed on moustache cream

A leading Japanese rugby player blamed the failed test on a cream he was using to help him grow a moustache.
Ryohei Yamanaka, a World Cup hopeful, was banned for two years for a positive steroid test.

Warning to school boys over unlawful anabolic steroids

Roughly one in six schoolboy rugby players are using illegal anabolic steroids, as per a new survey.
The SA Sports Medicine Association issued a warning in response to results of the survey and said the use of anabolic steroids is harmful to the health of school boys.

Kelly Sotherton hoping for an end to Blonska’s career

After the Ukrainian heptathlon silver medalist Lyudmila Blonska failed a drug test for the second time, Kelly Sotherton hopes her career is over.
Blonska has been “removed from the Olympic Games” and that she will not compete in the long jump final, according to a confirmation by the International Olympic Committee.

Steroids and unlawful medicine doses held

Police have seized 700,000 doses of anabolic steroids, growth hormones, and other illegal medicines in what is considered to be the largest international medicine trafficking ring.
Police also arrested 26 people, including a cycling club manager.

Five members of the North Korean football team have tested positive for a banned steroid at the women’s World Cup in Germany.
The world governing body of Football, FIFA, announced three new cases on Saturday, but did not disclose the women’s names.

Banned drugs for athletes manufactured by North Korea

North Korea has been manufacturing banned substances on a state-wide level for years to help its athletes, as per a high-ranking defector from the communist state.
The revelation came just days after five of North Korean athletes tested positive for anabolic steroids.

Failed doping test for Asiad Winner

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has provisionally suspended two of the top middle distance athletes of India — Mandeep Singh and Juana Murmu.
Samples belonging to these two athletes were collected by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) during an out-of-competition surprise test at Patiala, and showed traces of anabolic steroids.
