The twelve individuals involved in Applied Pharmacy Services Inc. will be facing further trial in front of the U.S. District Court in Mobile, Alabama. Among these are the three owners— Samuel Kelley, Jason Kelley and Jodi Silvio– and four pharmacists. The group has been involved in a steroid distribution scheme that operated in at least 10 states.

The indictment alleges that pharmacists at APS illegally dispensed anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing drugs to doctors and steroid dealers between 2003 and 2006 in Arizona, California, Texas, Washington, Colorado, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, South Carolina, Florida and elsewhere.
The indictments marked the latest development in a long-term investigation into the alleged distribution of anabolic steroids to doctors, gyms, health and workout clubs nationwide. Some doctors were charged earlier in the probe and two pleaded guilty in 2008 to federal charges of helping to distribute steroids
Those involved in the issue are charged with prescribing and distributing steroids for veterinary use to human clients. Although the assistant US attorney handling the case didn’t name who the specific clients were, she did point out that some were teenagers.
The distribution network of Applied Pharmacy Services used the internet, some advertisements, gyms and various contacts to establish transactions. Products included anabolic steroids, human growth hormone and human chorionic gonadotropin. The usual punishment for these kinds of cases includes a maximum prison sentence of 5 years which could be increased to 10 years if the person who was sold the drugs is under 21 and a fine of $250,000
