Alex Rodriguez was joined by his ex wife Cynthia and 2 daughters, Natasha and Ella as he goes to his first batting practice with the Dominican Republic team. With cameras following them around it was like a scene from a reality tv show.

Rodriguez, the Yankees baseball star who admitted to using steroids in 2001 through 2003 had recently appeared before MLB officials to answer questions about his cousin Yuri Sucart and Angel Presinal, two other personalities who join him in the spotlight of the steroid scandal. Despite the negative articles that came out after he came forward he remains to be the player to watch in the World Baseball Classics. His Dominican teammates don’t seem to mind the extra attention. As a matter of fact Ortiz himself is quite protective of the Rodriguez and Martinez chastised the media for the negative articles.

Rodriguez was the only player who visited so visibly with his children, the only player who had at least one crisis manager trolling the back fields of Roger Dean Stadium, and the only player who had to answer questions about meeting with major league officials on Sunday.

The officials quizzed Rodriguez about his relationship with Yuri Sucart, the cousin who Rodriguez said secured steroids for him from the Dominican Republic.

“It’s really good to get yesterday behind me, another one of the big steps,” said Rodriguez, who declined to discuss specifics of the meeting.

A-Rod is intent on putting the past behind and to start anew with the D.R. Team. What is import for them now is to win the WBC. According to the baseball star he feels safer when he is playing on the field, at least there his only focus would be on the game.
